Advantages of Satellite Radio

With satellite radio, you can now enjoy music without listening pleasure. When listeners pay income providers, there is no need to collect from advertisers. There are over 70 channels to choose the game, no matter where you are right now, at any time of day. There are static, with a radio service via satellite. You can expect to be a clear signal that digital technology is used.

Satellite radio tuners receive an influx of additional information signals which includes the artist name, song name and radio station. Each time a song is played, the related information are also displayed. If you happen to hear a beautiful song and I know the song name and artist, a look at the display panel will reveal the answers you seek.

These channels are completely uncensored! There are no beeps to be heard in the song. It is also updated traffic information and weather along the route. With this information in hand, you can plan your route back home after a long day at work. In case of national disasters and other stations can not transmit, satellite radio is the only source of information.

If you think that you should not pay for something you can easily get free, remember the times when you feel embarrassed by the advertising jingle continues, ensuring interrupting their favorite show! Terrestrial radio is not free either. The price paid by your time spent listening to these ads appear. For the modest price of $ 13 per month you get rid of those annoying infomercials.

There are no immediate plans to include video in the service. Sirius and XM services have made some interesting announcements on this topic. Often, people find comfort in knowing that the satellite radio allows them to enjoy hours of fun listening to your favorite show without being interrupted by advertising sponsors constant shape.

Technical Considerations Of XM Satellite Radio

The whole content of the radio service that is both data and audio content is represented by only two carriers. Other four carriers carry duplicates of the same content to achieve redundancy through diversity of signals. Time delayed and error correction schemes are used for carrying data on each carrier. This is done to enhance availability.

Thus the total effective radio spectrum used for content is a little over four mega hertz. The groups of two carriers broadcast hundred eight kilobits per second streams. Combined streams whose combination is done using a patented process form a variable number of channels using a variety of bit rates. Thus bandwidth is separated into segments of four kilo bit per second virtual streams which are combined to form audio and data channels of varying bit rates from four to sixty four kilobits per second in the current service. The audio content of the XM signals is pre processed using the audio processors which use the special coding technique.

Satellite Internet

Satellite Internet is a form of high-speed Internet service which utilizes telecommunications satellites in earth orbit to provide Internet access to consumers.

A satellite Internet connection is basically an arrangement in which the upstream (outgoing) and the downstream (incoming) data are sent from, and arrive at, a computer through a satellite. Each subscriber’s hardware includes a satellite dish antenna and a transceiver (Modem) that operates in the microwave portion of the radio spectrum. Your computer, through the satellite modem, broadcasts requests to a satellite dish antenna that sits on top of your home or business. The dish antenna then sends and receives signals from satellites that orbit some 22,300 miles above the equator. As long as your dish maintains a clear view of the southern sky (in the U.S.), you receive broadband Internet access. Currently, satellite broadband is slower in both the uplink and downlink, when compared to a DSL Internet service, for example.

Satellite Internet services are of two types. One-way service uses DVB-IP (Digital Video Broadcast- Internet Protocol), which is only for inbound connectivity. Hence, one way service is ideally suited for webpage viewing.

Two-way services provide complete broadband services to the users. Two-way service enables high-speed access for both download and upload. This platform is ideal for home, offices and small and medium enterprises. In this two-way satellite Internet connection, the upstream data is usually sent at a slower speed than the downstream data arrives. Thus, the connection is asymmetric. The upload speed will always be slower than the download speed. A dish antenna, measuring about one and half feet high by three feet wide by three feet deep, transmits and receives signals. Uplink speeds are variable and nominally 128 to 500 Kbps for a subscriber using a single or multiple computers. The downlink occurs at speeds ranging from about 700 Kbps to 2000 Kbps, depending on factors such as Internet traffic, the capacity of the server, the sizes of downloaded files and upon the plan provided by the service providers.
